Pre-order POS Hub for reliable, wired countertop setups

Shopify’s new POS Hub connects scanners, printers, and card readers to your tablet via wired USB. Unlike standard hubs, it features automatic fault recovery and health monitoring to keep your checkout online. It gives you the reliability of wired connections with the processing power of a computer.
Verifone Victa card readers coming to Shopify POS

Shopify is partnering with Verifone to bring our world-class POS to more hardware. Starting with the Victa Mobile and Victa Lane countertop terminals, this expands your device options and introduces a new form factor at checkout.

Make pickups smoother for you and your customers

The latest improvements to the Shop app’s pickup experience make in-store handoffs faster and clearer. Customers will now see pickup instructions, preparation status and an optional QR code that staff can scan in Shopify POS to instantly pull up the order.

Multi-entity offline payments
Offline payments now work with multi-entity Shopify Payments. Transaction limits are automatically inherited across shops, with no extra setup required, so you can keep selling even across multiple entities.

Control which locations appear as storefronts

You can now mark which locations are real, customer-facing storefronts. This keeps pop-ups, test locations, and warehouses out of retail metrics and ensures only the right stores appear to buyers in Shop.

Return reasons tailored to your products

Processing returns in POS now suggests more relevant, category-specific reasons—like "Too big" for apparel or "Taste" for food items. Get richer, more actionable data to reduce future returns and improve your products.

Cleaner POS settings, less clutter
We’ve simplified POS app settings by removing rarely used options and duplicate controls that were better managed elsewhere. Settings like smart grid controls, receipt editing, and hardware management now live in Admin or under Connectivity, where they’re easier to find and manage. Device-level options, such as notifications, continue to be handled through your device’s system settings. This cleanup reduces clutter in the POS app and makes setup faster for staff. It also creates a stronger foundation for future retail settings, including market-specific configurations.

New POS protections for France and Spain
Merchants with retail locations in France and Spain will no longer be able to manually override tax calculations at the cart or customer level. This change ensures compliance with fiscal regulations including France's NF525 certification requirements and Spain's January 1, 2027 Verifactu compliance deadline. This update protects your business from audit failure and significant fines by automatically preventing non-compliant tax modifications. VAT exemptions still apply at the shop level for qualifying French micro-businesses (micro-enterprises).

POS UI extensions can now leverage the new Camera API
POS UI extensions can now access the device camera through a new Camera API. This enhancement can be used to enable richer and more interactive workflows, such as scanning IDs, capturing product photos, and attaching images directly within Shopify POS.

Translations support comes to POS UI Extensions
POS UI extensions on v10.19 support translations, allowing apps to automatically display in the POS user’s device language. Developers can add translation files, and the extension will show the correct language based on the device’s locale settings—making it easier to support international teams and operations across different countries.

Offer same day local delivery with Uber Direct
Feature image by Uber Direct in Shopify App Store
In December, Uber Direct launched an app in the Shopify App Store. With this integration, Shopify Plus merchants can route online orders to nearby retail locations and fulfill them in-store using Shopify POS, while couriers handle local delivery through Uber. This gives buyers express and same-day delivery options at checkout, with real-time tracking, and helps convert sales during key moments like last-minute gifts, urgent or spontaneous purchases, items that need extra care, such as bouquets or chocolates, or when holiday shipping cutoffs have passed. Available in the US, Canada, and France.

Avia is a plug-and-play device connecting Shopify POS sales data with in-store traffic and demographics, bringing ecommerce analytics to physical retail. Its intuitive dashboard visualizes visits, conversions, and revenue per visitor. AI forecasts non-transactional behavior.
